ISLAMABAD: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Ashfaq Pervez Kayani on Saturday and discussed security-related issues.
An official, seeking anonymity, said that the Punjab CM apprised the COAS about the steps being taken in Punjab for improving the law and order situation and security measures taken at shrines in wake of the bombing at the shrine of Hazrat Baba Farid Ganj Shakar in Pakpattan.
Shahbaz also apprised Kayani about proposals regarding the Charter of Pakistan, which were put forward by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif.
According to the official, vital issues of intelligence information exchange about terrorist organisations between various security agencies were discussed in the meeting. He said that Shahbaz and Kayani reiterated their resolve to continue counter-terrorism efforts.
The country’s overall political situation was also discussed in the meeting.
