ISLAMABAD: Close aides of former president Pervez Musharraf will release a charge sheet against PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and his brother Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday (tomorrow).
The charge sheet against the Sharif Brothers will be a response to the PML-N’s charge sheet against Musharraf released on October 11. The PML-N charge sheet had demanded Musharraf’s trial under Article 6 and called on the government to bring him back to the country through Interpol.
The charge sheet accused Musharraf of illegally taking over the government on October 12, 1999, using NAB for political motives, charged him for Nawab Akbar Bugti’s murder, Lal Masjid operation, May 12, 2007, carnage in Karachi and the promulgation of the controversial NRO.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Sher Afgan Niazi said the charge sheet against Nawaz had been drafted by leaders of the All Pakistan Muslim League and consisted of undeniable facts and figures regarding corruption by the Sharif brothers since the days of former dictator Ziaul Haq.
He said the charge sheet would be made public on Monday in Islamabad. “The document details the written-off loans of the Sharif brothers,” he said, adding that it will also highlight the circumstances in which the Sharifs went into exile during Musharraf’s regime.
