LAHORE: The Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) and the India’s Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday pledged to take steps in order to maintain peace and check cross-border crimes.
Addressing a press conference after a four-day biannual meeting, Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) Director General Major General Muhammad Yaqub Khan and BSF Director General Shri Raman Srivastav said that various security issues were discussed during the deliberations.
They said that Rangers officials would be asked to avoid aggressive attitude during the flag hoisting and lowering ceremonies at Wagah and other cossing points.
They said the issues taken up by the two sides included illegal border crossing and stoppage of smuggling, violation of airspace limits by Indian helicopters and spying jets, killing of innocent people along the border and illegal constructions of defensive buildings by the India’s Border Security Force.
The two sides also agreed to settle minor issues amicably and to send back unintentional border crossers within 24 hours.
