PNCA showcases works of artists from across the globe

ISLAMABAD: Lahore Arts Foundation Trust Director Sabah Husain, a printmaker and painter has introduced some excellent artists from China, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand to Pakistani artists and art-lovers. She put their works on display in an exhibition at the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA).
Tinsa Sanjaya, a famous artist from Indonesia certainly knows how to blend existential themes with the traditions of Indonesian art, reflecting the socio-political experiences of an individual. One of his works called the ‘Theatre of Life’ mesmerized audiences and depicted the deep thought that Sanjaya put into this painting.
The work of Reika Iwami is also remarkable. Her skill lies in her ability to transmute the grain and texture of pieces of wood into visual images of patterns of water which reflect her preoccupation with the theme. Zhang Guang Hui is another artist who uses the woodcut medium.
Some paintings of Zhoujirong, also a Chinese artist, have been put on display. One of his works, named ‘Evolution’ received much praise. His work has an overriding theme of Tibetan life, culture and history. Lixiao Lin, also from China, prescribes to the existentialist feminist school of thought in her work.
‘The Seed’ was certainly a wonderful piece of art that depicted this perspective. She mostly uses the lithograph medium. Phatyas Buddhacharoen from Thailand has brought out wonderful creations in abstract form. He also uses the lithograph medium.
Sabah also has her own paintings on display and was applauded for both her talent and her effort to bring all these artists together.
