14 lawmakers accused of having fake degrees

ISLAMABAD: As many as fourteen lawmakers were accused of possessing either fake or invalid degrees and have been summoned by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to appear on Monday, November 1 before a special committee hearing their cases.
The lawmakers summoned by ECP include Mukhesh Kumar, Pitanbar Sawani, Mir Ahmed Bugti, Gulam Dastagir Rajar, Afshaan Farooq, Safdar Gill, Farah Deeba, Maulvi Abduallah, Syed Aqil Shah, and Shama Parveen Magsi.
The degrees of 54 lawmakers were declared either fake or invalid by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) a couple of months ago. Subsequently, these lawmakers were given the chance to appear before the ECP special committee to submit documentary proof of their degrees.
After completing the hearings of all the accused lawmakers, the ECP will initiate legal action against those failing to satisfy the committee.
