55 candidates to fight for 21 SCBA seats

A total of fifty-five candidates are contesting to win 21 different seats in the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) polls today.
Sanaullah Khan Zahid is already elected unopposed as the finance secretary of the SCBA, while Chaudhry Afrasiab Khan has been appointed the returning officer for SCBA 2010-2011 elections. There are three candidates in the running for the presidential slot – Ahmad Awais, Asma Jahangir and Muhammad Ikram Chaudhry.
The four candidates are fighting for the seat of the SCBA secretary are: Muhammad Sohail Dar, Munsif Malik Awan, Qamar Zaman Qureshi and Rana Farman Ali Sabir. For four SCBA vice president’s seats – one for each of the four provinces – there are 12 contesting candidates.
They are Jahanzaib Khan Jadoon and Mohammad Mohsin Javed from Balochistan, Malik Manzoor Hussain and Muhammad Arif Khan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Hameed Talib Rana, Abdul Sadiq Chaudhry, Malik Muhammad Imtiaz Mahl and Zubair Khalid from Punjab and KA Wahab, Shafaat Hussain, Shamsuddin Khalid Ahmed Ansari and Syed Jamil Ahmed from Sindh.
For one seat of the additional secretary, M Saliheen Moghal and Zulfiqar Ahmed Bhutta are contesting the polls. For 14 seats of the SCBA executive body, Abdullah Kakar, Abdur Rasheed Awan, Iqbal Shah, Jaffar Raza Khan, Malik Azmatullah Khan Kasi, Muhammad Hassan Bilal, Syed Akhtar Muhammad and Taj Mohammad Mengal are contesting elections from Balochistan, while Khan Afzal Khan, Muhammad Habib Qureshi, Noor Alam Khan and Tanveer Ahmed are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Thirteen candidates for the SCBA executive body seats are contesting the polls from Punjab, which include Chaudhry Mohammad Ikram Zahid, Dr Afzal Javaid, Hamid Shabbir Azar, Khalid Mahmood Sheikh, Mian Muhammad Javaid, Mohammad Aslam Ghuman, Muhammad Saad Shibli, Muhammad Suleman Bhatti, Muhammad Yunus Khan Naul, Nadeem Siddiqui, Rafaqat Ali Kahloon, Tabindah Islam, and Waseem Mumtaz Malik.
From Sindh, there are nine candidates contesting elections for the executive body. They are Abbas Ali, Ghulam Shabbir, Haji Shafi Muhammad Chandio, Jameel Ahmed Virk, Muhammad Ishaque Saathi, Sardar Akbar Ujjan, Sardar M Ajaz Khan, Shakeel Ahmed and Zia Ahmed Awan.
