Pakistan cricket team reached Abu Dhabi on Saturday for the month-long tour against South Africa which includes five one-day Internationals and two Twenty20 matches.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ijaz Butt could not deliver a lecture to the players on the new code of conduct due to personal engagements. The series between Pakistan and South Africa will begin on October 26 with two Twenty20 Internationals due to be played in the first phase.
Earlier, the players reported for their departure to manager Intikhab Alam at the National Cricket Academy. Butt, who had to deliver a lecture on the new code of conduct, went to Karachi due to personal engagements and in his place, Intikhab Alam gave a briefing to the players and told them to maintain discipline through the tour.
Out of the two T20’s, one match will be played to raise funds for the flood victims of Pakistan. The floods killed thousands of people and left more than four million homeless. Crowds in large numbers were present at the Lahore airport to see the team off.
While speaking to media, manager Intikhab Alam said that the national team was mentally and physically geared up to take on the formidable Proteas. He was confident that Afridi’s team would put up a good show in the ODIs.
