LAHORE
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday issued notice to PML-N MNA Khawaja Saad Rafique on a petition seeking the verification of prize bonds submitted in court by the legislator.
The petition was filed by PML-Q candidate Humayun Akhter, who had lost the NA-125 election against Saad. The petition alleges that Saad had concealed his assets when he filed his nomination papers.
The petition claims Saad declared his assets post-elections, claiming he had won assets worth Rs 40.4 million through prize bonds between 2003 and 2007. The petition claims the MNA had not disclosed the details of his ‘winnings’ to the election commission.
The petitioner claimed that Saad Rafique should be disqualified as MNA under articles 62 and 63 of the constitution on the grounds of dishonesty and perjury.
Saad’s counsel Rana Asadullah said his client had submitted copies of prize bonds totaling Rs 50 million, an intimation letter from the state bank certifying his winning and a document confirming income tax returns of Rs 5 million to the election commission.

  1. ballay bhai ballay ……….
he has to be the luckiest guy around to have won the Prize Bonds lottery constantly
based on my (little) knowledge of how the system works, prize bonds are one of the most commonly used 'legal' ways of money whitening – but then doesn't one need to have a lot of 'black money' to whiten it ????
but – raising these issues might endanger "jamhooriat" ……………..

  2. its is not surprising that prizes are won by ministers of his level .i wish some poor man in this country had also won so much amount . .well if at all it is the prize money so it is a gamble money and not hard earned money .from Islamic point of view it is HARAAM .
