I didn’t like Dabangg: Yash Chopra

Veteran Indian film director Yash Chopra, who redefined romance on Indian cinema screen, feels that film star Salman Khan starrer film ‘Dabangg’ had nothing new to offer, the Press trust of Indian reported on Friday.
The 78-year-old filmmaker, known for his romantic movies like ‘Waqt’, ‘Kabhi Kabhie’, ‘Silsila’, ‘Chandni’ and ‘Veer-Zaara’, feels that Indian cinema should not be used merely as a tool of entertainment.
“I did not like ‘Dabangg’. What was new in that film? It was an old fashioned movie but it was such a huge success. Personally, I wasn’t able to understand the logic behind the movie,” said Chopra.
“Indian cinema is really big and is excelling like anything. It has so much to offer other than the entertainment quotient. Its role has become big and more responsible,” the director added.
