Australian fast bowler Doug Bollinger has been sent home from the one-day series against India with an abdominal strain, team officials said Thursday, raising further injury concerns before the Ashes.
Middle-order batsman Mike Hussey, who is returning to play for his domestic side West Australia, will accompany Bollinger. Bollinger also missed the second Test against India with an abdominal problem.
Sims said Bollinger would undergo further assessment and rehabilitation in Australia before it was known when he would return to action. Australia are gearing up for the five-Test Ashes series against arch-rivals England, which starts on November 25.
The Cricket Australia statement said Hussey was returning from the tour to avoid over-exertion during the season. Australia lost the Test series against India 2-0 and were also defeated in Wednesday’s opening one-day match.
