LAHORE: Load shedding in early morning on Tuesday created severe problems for citizens who were getting ready for offices and schools, Pakistan Today has learnt.
According to consumers, there was no electricity when they woke up for having breakfast and getting ready to start their daily routine work. Electricity remained suspended for one hour from 6am in many parts of the city including Model Town, Gulberg, Shadman, Rehmanpura, Township, Faisal Town and Garden Town.
According to schedule, power outages occurred from 9am onwards but on Tuesday there was no electricity from 6am leaving the consumers in a fix. “I was preparing breakfast for my children and due to load shedding I had to face many problems,” Neelama Shah, a housewife, said adding that her children got late for school due to the power outages.
She urged LESCO authorities not to carry out load shedding in early morning. Sadeed Ather, a banker, said that he got late for office due to load shedding. According to sources, LESCO was getting supply of 2,450MW to 2,500MW contrary to the required supply of 2,950MW to 3,100MW due to which a shortfall of 600MW was being observed.
According to sources, the situation could worsen in days to come if gas supply to power plants was suspended.
