LAHORE: University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Higher Education Commission (HEC) is organizing the first ever National Biotechnology Exhibition and Seminar on 20 – 21st October, 2010.
The two-day exhibition is being held with an idea to gather leading scientists, academicians and policy makers from across the country to share their ideas and vision on the future of Biotechnology. Students from different universities will present their ideas on biotechnology applications in Pakistan through models, posters and documentaries. Students with best ideas will be granted prizes.
Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will be the chief guest and inaugurate the exhibition. UVAS Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Muhammad Nawaz addressing a press conference on Monday said that UVAS was one of the leading universities of Pakistan and during last four years it had gained international significance due to its progressive agenda and activities addressing national issues.
Professor Nawaz added that Pakistan’s leading pharmaceutical and bio-industries will set up their stalls and exhibit their products as well as Pakistan’s leading scientists and policy makers will deliver lectures. Many of the most advanced economies of the world were now relying upon the development of biotechnological inventions.
With Pakistan’s fragile economic situation and vast opportunities to utilize biotechnological inventions in animal and crop sciences, pharmaceutical and food industry this science has the potential to transform Pakistani economy into an independent and growing one within few years.
