Dengue endemic in Hazara division and Shangla

PESHAWAR: Dengue infection is endemic in Hazara division and Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, stated an official handout here on Monday.
The peek time of dengue infection is from March to October. Such cases occur every year in these areas. Recent infection is reported from Dhab No 2, Mansehra city, village on Khaki Road, Lohar Banda, Hari Mera, Khaki, Ogai, Buffa, Khwajgan and Jaloo. Cause of the infection is reported to be the water reservoir across Khaki, says a report of the director general health.
The water reservoir of Tarbela Dam and Khanpur Dam are reported to be the cause of the infection.I n view of the epidemic, district coordination committees are established in districts Mansehra, Abbottabad and Haripur. The training of female medical technicians and lady health sisters was started in Mansehra, Abbottabad and Hqripur.
Fever clinics/surveillance in each identified area of affected districts was also started through LHWs. In addition, these LHWs are doing health, education and contact tracing of the community. Abbottabad, Mansehra and Haripur administrations have agreed to continuous water supply so that people need not store water in open pots.
