LAHORE: Terrorists involved in suicidal attacks at the shrine of Hazrat Data Gunj Bakhsh in Lahore and at the shrine of Hazrat Abdul Shah Ghazi in Karachi belongs from same group, said Inspector General of Punjab Police Tariq Saleem Dogar on Monday.
Dogar was speaking to media during the open court held at his office under strict security conditions. Answering media queries Dogar claimed investigators are close to identifying the groups and master minds behind the attacks at the Data Darbar shrine, Karbala Gamay Shah, Bahawalpur and Khanewal. Dogar assured that arrests will be made soon.
He promised more recruitments to improve the Punjab police performance. He said that though they were making serious efforts to curb terrorism in the provincial capital but yet they have not found any success while probing into low intensity blasts. He while answering a query regarding stolen items including weapon and drugs from the store (Maal Khana) of Punjab said that Additional IG Investigations is probing into the matter and will submit his report in seven days in this regard.
Details of Open Kutchery: Earlier Tariq Saleem Dogar, taking notice of public complaints summoned SP Civil Lines, SP Mujahid Squad, DSP and SHO Gulshan Ravi into the open Kutchery; while ordering departmental inquiries against 8 police officials including one SP on charges of corruption and abuse of power. Shabbir Ahmad, a complainant, alleged that SP Multan Karamat Ullah and SHO Rana Zaheer Babar had registered fake cases against him in connivance with his opponents.
The IG ordered CPO Multan to hold an inquiry in this connection and submit a report promptly. A women from Lahore alleged that staff at Police Station Bhatti were not arresting Inspector Sardar against whom she registered a case at the same police station. Dogar ordered the CCPO Lahore to hold a departmental enquiry against the officials. Similarly a citizen Umair Ashraf leveled charges against SHO Muhammad Asif and ASI Muhammad Afzal PS Cantt Sargodha that they cancelled his case, in connivance with the accused party.
On which, the IG ordered for holding department enquires against above mentioned police officers. Naveed Muhammad resident of Faisalabad in his application leveled the charges against SHO Muhammad Akram PS Ghulamabad for registration of fake cases against him. Taking serious view the IG ordered the CPO Faisalabad to submit him report after conducting enquiry in this regard.
A resident of Lahore Sohail Nasir in his application leveled charges against ASI Riaz for indulging in protection of the accused by not recovering the stolen goods from them. A citizen Abdul Hameed also leveled charges against the PS City Raiwind investigation Incharge for not arresting the accused despite taking bribe from him.
On which the IG ordered the SP Sadar Investigation for arresting the accused immediately and holding enquiry against the Incharge investigation. The IG while taking serious notice on the applications of three citizens immediately summed SP Civil Lines, SP Mujahid squad, DSP and SHO of Ghulshan Ravi in the open court and ordered them for solving the complaints of citizens with in couple of days.
It would be pertinent to mention here that Inspector General of Punjab Police held open court at his office where extensive security has been deputed since information of terrorist attacks. Because of the extensive security only few complainants could be able to appear before the IG. “How one could consider it an open court, when it takes minimum 20 minute to enter inside the IG office”, said complainant Salamat Maseeh.
