Pakistan should learn from Germany and realize the power of unity, says Honorary Consul Anees ur Rehman,
“Germany and Pakistan have gone through strife regarding the situations in our respective countries, but together we must learn to grow together, and together we must share our experiences and learn from them”

The German ambassador, on Wednesday, highlighted the need for Germany and Pakistan to grow together, in a gathering at a local hotel, organized by the German embassy, commemorating the unification of Germany.
The Honorary Consul Anees ur Rehman introduced the significance of the program with a speech which stressed on the spirit that the people of Germany had among themselves and which in turn catalyzed the process of unification. He emphasised that Germans, despite countless problems including the disapproval of the four powers, walked to unification without shedding a single drop of blood.
Anees said, “Germans had realized the power of unity and it is about time that, learning from Germany, Pakistan also realizes the power”
Dr Michael Koch, the German ambassador said, “I am honoured by the acknowledgment given to me this evening and I have only one more thing to say, and that is, that Germany and Pakistan have gone through similar experiences. We have each gone through strife regarding the situations in our respective countries, but together we must learn to grow together, and together we must share our experiences and learn from them.”

A pleasant atmosphere surrounded the large hall of a local hotel on Wednesday, as well known guests from both Pakistan and Germany exchanged greetings over drinks and hors de oeuvres. Eminent faces from all sectors in Lahore were seen, standing around in intimate circles, chatting candidly about personal and professional matters. The ambassador appeared pleased to have both his wife and his son join him this year for the dinner to mark the German Unification. His son had flown in only to attend this event. Meanwhile, General Tariq Hameed Gul, General Jahangir Karamat (Rtd.), Ambassador Shamshad Ahmed, Naeem Ahmed Bajwa and his wife Sonja Heike Bajwa from their joint company called Laguna Verde, exchanged pleasantries. Former Ambassador of Pakistan, Khalid Mehmood, former foreign minister, Khurshid Kasuri, Lft Gen khalid Maqbool, Ali Nikan, Head of Iranian Mission to Pakistan, PML-N leaders Tehmina Dultana, Muhammad Mehdi and Dr Norbert from Thatta Kedona were also present at the situation.
