“When I was 16, I wasn’t fitness conscious. I grew up in a small town in Punjab and there was no gymming fashion there and my knowledge of fitness was nil,” the ‘Dabangg’ star said in an interview.
“I remember going to the neighbourhood ‘akhada’ and would use dumbbells, rods and whatever else was available. It was few months later that I realised about the right equipment and how to use them. But the zeal to work hard was always present in me,” he added.
“I was a sincere student as my mother was a professor and had instilled the importance of education in me. I participated in a lot of extra-curricular activities. I played sports like badminton, hockey and cricket. But I was more into cricket. I never thought I would go into films at that time. My mother is my role model because she is a very hard working, wonderful person. I would accompany my mother on college trips with her students, all over India. When I was 16, I travelled alone for the first time on my own. I travelled by train from Punjab to Mumbai and it was an experience to remember. I was enamoured by the glitz and glamour of Mumbai,” he said.
