Old sewage lines:

Second: 1984
18 feet below surface
Two large pits have reappeared on Model Town Link Road. Residents allege the ditches are a consequence of leaking sewage lines. Residents also allege that WASA has shown negligence despite repeated voicing of concerns by residents.
Makro shopping mall which situated right in front of these huge pits was very much disturbed by the constant traffic jam which creates problems for purchasers entering and exiting the shopping mall. The administration of the Makro really disturbed by this entire situation, told to Pakistan Today.
Asghar Ali a motorist while talking to Pakistan Today said the traffic burden is already too much on the link road and the ditch of 35 feet deep and 25 feet wide results in a badly traffic jam. He also expressed his severe concerns for lives of the motorist at the hands of these pits.
Closed as per usual:
Arslan Siddiqi, a rickshaw driver said that just a week ago a section of link road was closed for repairs “as usual” so it took him two hours to reach the same point that he normally reaches in 20 to 25 minutes. He said while making these repairs model town society doesn’t even bother to guide them a proper alternative route plan. He also alleged the administration of Model town society for all being happened.
Fund shortages:
Model Town Society Road & Sewerage Incharge Taimoor Qaisar talking to the Pakistan Today, denied allegations of negligence and said that in the past 3 years more than 20 applications have been written to WASA to rectify the problem but everytime they have claimed a shortage of funds..
Old and rusted sewage lines:
He said that there were two main sewerage lines in model town which were laid in 1970 and 1984, but they are now badly rusted. He told that anytime a leakage is reported we get WASA administration to fix it temporarily but due to the shortage of funds we have failed to achieve the permanent solution of this problem. He added that the other bigger problem is that these sewerage lines are laid 18 feet below the surface because of which repair work becomes even harder.
Furthermore Taimoor told that in the recent meeting of President Col.(R) Tahir Kardar of Model Town Society with Managing Director WASA Dr Javid Iqbal ensured that whenever Punjab Government releases development funds, this issue will top priority.
