Fire at a cafe near PTV station

Two were injured as Sui gas leakage resulted in fire eruption at Shaheen complex’s cafe in front of the Pakistan Television (PTV) station at Abbot Road on Wednesday.
The incident happened around 3 PM. The Fire brigade, Rescue 1122 and bomb disposal squad rushed at the scene instantly and shifted the injured namely Javed Shah and Adnan to the Mayo hospital. Their condition is said to be stable.
According to bomb disposal squad officials, the fire erupted in the cafe’s kitchen due to gas leakage. They said that gas eventually filled the room and when one of the cafe’s cook lit a match stick to light a stove the room burst into fire. Building staff with the help of local police cordoned off the site and banned the entry of media personnel.
Station House Officer (SHO) Qila Gujjar Singh Police Station Majid Bashir reached the spot within an hour of the incident. While talking to Pakistan Today the SHO said “I ordered the bomb disposal squad to inquire the real facts behind the incident to make sure that it was not a terror plot.” He also said that one of the injured was the contractor of the cafe and the other one was an employee.
