CDA to launch campaign for dengue fever

 Three phases of the campaign includes the fumigation of slum areas, green belts, blocks and govt accommodations
 They also plan to make the public aware of precautionary measure against dengue
ISLAMABAD
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi, taking serious notice of the outbreak of dengue fever, has ordered an extensive campaign for its control and mitigation.
This was said during a meeting to review the measures being taken by the CDA to combat the threat of dengue fever. The meeting was attended by Health Services Director Dr Hasan Arooj, Health Additional Director Khadija Tul Kubra and other officials of the CDA, according to a press statement issued on Saturday.
Dr Arooj told the meeting that the Health Services Directorate is keeping strict control over the situation and has launched a comprehensive campaign in Islamabad, which will be completed in three phases. In the first phase, spray and fumigation are being carried out in katchi abadi areas and urban slums. In the second phase the green belts in the city will be focused on and in the third phase all blocks and government accommodations will be sprayed and fogged. So far, the CDA have sprayed and fumigated Faisal Colony G-7/1 Katchi Abadi 66 Quarters Colony G-7/2 and G-7/3.
The Anti-Malaria Squad is moving swiftly in different areas of Islamabad and is adding larvicides in all gutters and streams situated in the municipal jurisdiction of the CDA. In addition, to keep the public aware about dengue fever and its precautions, banners will be installed in all public places and pamphlets will be distributed among the public.
Elahi directed the Health Services Directorate to communicate with the public about the precautionary measures that can be taken and to advise the general public to install wire gauze on the doors and windows of their houses and to use mosquito nets when sleeping outside.
