LAHORE: Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) has allocated Rs 60.34 billion for farm credit to meet production credit needs, both for Rabi and Kharif crops during the current year.
Agriculture Department, Punjab has advised farmers to utilise this facility of loan disbursement through One Window Operation and purchase agricultural inputs for Rabi crops in time for greater income.
According to the spokesman of Agriculture Department, Punjab credit availability to the farmers through One Window Operation for Rabi crops has already started and operations will continue till 3rd January 2011. He further informed that farmers holding up to 25 acres of irrigated land and 50 acres of Barani land are eligible for loans through the pass book system. The Mobile Credit Officer will receive applications on every Monday at Markaz level and the bank will issue the loan within three days.
The Department is paying special attention to the availability of quality seed and promotion of mechanized farming, so that maximum area could be brought under cultivation to increase agricultural production.
