Turkish prime minister arrives today

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will arrive in the country today (Tuesday) on a two-day visit to discuss bilateral, regional and global issues with the Pakistani leaderhip.
“On the invitation of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, the prime minister of the republic of Turkey, would visit Pakistan on October12-13. Besides meetings with the leadership, the Turkish prime minister’s programme includes visits to flood-affected areas,” Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said.
“Pakistan and Turkey enjoy special relations, which are deeply rooted in the minds and hearts of the two people. Turkey was among the first to respond to the floods calamity and has contributed generously to the humanitarian relief work for the flood-affected people,” he said in a statement issued on Monday.
The wife of the Turkish prime minister, Mrs Emine Erdogan, had earlier visited Pakistan to demonstrate Turkey’s solidarity with the country after the floods, Basit said.
The Turkish leadership and people have launched fund raising campaign and organised substantial assistance for relief and reconstruction.
Basit said the visit of the Turkish prime minister “will also provide an excellent opportunity for further strengthening the Pakistan-Turkey comprehensive partnership”.
