A 53 percent price hike and the recent $7 billion International Monetary Fund (IMP) loan was a charge sheet against the government who had made exaggerated claims of providing “roti, kapra, makan” to people before getting elected, Jamaat e Islami (JI) Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch said in a press statement.
The prices of electricity, gas, food items, agricultural inputs and other items had registered a steep rise, he said, depriving the public of their basic rights. The rulers were placing the country under IMF and World Bank slavery when they needed to recover the billions of rupees from those who had plundered the country’s resources, he said.
