Sindh Fisheries and Livestock Minister Jam Khan Shoro has said that out of total 7.3 million livestock in Tharparkar district over 2.2 million have been vaccinated till date.
He said this while speaking at the meeting held with officials of livestock department on Saturday.
In this regard, 16 mobile teams in Thar deputed by livestock department are working for the treatment of livestock, the minister said. Shoro said that the government had approved a project in collaboration with Engro Company and World Bank under which the markets of urban cities would be accessed for the milk being produced from Thar areas.
Under this program, solar plants would be installed for cold-chain storage which would help people of Thar to sell their production of milk at markets.
Speaking on the occasion, Sindh Health Secretary Iqbal Durrani said that the process of hiring doctors for the district of Tharparkar would be completed within two or three days which would meet the shortage of doctors there. PPP MNA Kamal Chang was present on the occasion.
I do not believe a word of what the honorable minister said. No one to confirm the vaccination. As of today that is the 22nd of March not a single doctor has reported for duty. As for the project by World Bank Implemented by Engro is just an oasis in a desert dream. There is many a slip between the cup and the lip. I wish our ministers and other government functionaries realized that small, doable projects with incentives involving the communities prioritizing women and children, providing sustainable livelihoods through very small projects on a participatory basis is the only way forward. The old style Maharaja governance model with severe corruption should be abandoned.
